3 Races in 2 States in 2 Days for 4 Championships!
Important changes to this event! Please read the MRMC Flyer Addendum!
BigDaveSports has been given the thumbs up to put on a Midwest Regional Masters Championship for USA Cycling. The plan is to put on a Stage Race with 3 stages – a time trial, road race and criterium. There will be champions crowned for each race as well as the overall stage race, thus giving you 3 Races and 4 Championships. The dates for this event will be the weekend of Saturday, July 23, 2011 and Sunday, July 24, 2011. The Time Trial will be in Cleves, OH on Saturday morning. The road race will be using many of the same roads in North Bend, OH on Saturday afternoon and evening. The criterium will be in Aurora, IN on Sunday. The three events are all with in 20 miles of one another.
Midwest Region
Per USA Cycling, the Midwest Region consist of the 12 states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky. With over 56% of the licensed masters racers of the region living in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan, we are in a prime location for such an event. Though this event will be open to all masters riders, only those with one of these 12 states listed as their state of residence on their license will be eligible for championship awards.
Racing Categories/Age Groups
All riders with a racing age of 30 years old in 2011 will be allowed to participate in this event. Championships will be awarded in every 5-year age bracket for both men and women. Men (racing) ages 30-54 will also be split up by categories to allow more riders to participate (avoiding field limits) and safer fields. The categories will be Cat 1/2/3, Cat 4 and Cat 5. All other age groups will be open to all category racers. The women will all race together but will be separated into the standard 5-year age brackets for scoring and championship purposes.
Know who you are racing against. The number sequences have been announced for each 5-year age bracket.

Will riders in the 55-59 age group be allowed to race?
Yes. All riders age 30 or older will be able to participate. There is no age cap, and the 5-year age brackets will continue as high as we have participants.

Why is Kentucky listed with these midwest states. Kentucky is geographically a southeastern state. There is actually no midwest connection between Kentucky. The region changes with the Ohio River. It should be fine for us as Kentuckians to participate, but the mapping of Kentucky into the midwest with races and so on is simply not true. You need to list it as the Midwest and Southeast Masters. Thanks

Lighten up Preston. If it bothers you so much, organize your own race and call it whatever you want or don’t participate. I appreciate Big Dave’s willingness to stage a regional level event. He puts together well organzied races on good courses and gets strong fields. I am sure this will be a fun and challenging series of races.

How many miles will the TT and Road races be? Since there will be 3 events over 2 days, do you have any idea how the events will be bundled??
Thanks! Looking forward to it!

I was just upgraded from Cat 5 to Cat 4 but I am already registered in cat 5 for all three races. Can you move me over or do I need to do it through USAC?
Thanks.

Hi – can you tell me how to list our religious services on your site as posted on your Criterium flyer? I’ve looked (and used your search feature) and cannot seem to find the link. Thank you!

What is the prize list? I don’t see any info on the race flier?
@Dana – you can e-mail me at bigbikerdave @ gmails.com.
@BB – we are awarding medals to the top 3 finishers in each 5-year age bracket. Unfortunately, there is not enough sponsorship dollars to offer any kind of monetary prizes.

Concerning awards -
Since each of the 3 races will crown the “Midwest Region Champion” are there jerseys for the winners in addition to medals?
What are the awards for the over-all “Omnium” winners?
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to secure enough sponsorship dollars to cover the cost of jerseys, so the prizes are just medals. The Overall Omnium winners will also get medals.
